Simple answer is you can't really. This mode is intended for use with studio (or other powerful) flashes, where the flashguns are providing pretty much all the light in the picture.
In X-sync mode, the exposure duration is locked at 1/180th of a second, which is the quickest that the camera can shoot without having to resort to High Speed Sync flash (in which the flash pulses several flashes, rather than just one). The duration of the actual flash's light burst will be less than this.
Usually when you're changing exposure compensation, the camera modifies ISO, aperture and shutter speed to obtain the desired exposure. In X-Sync mode, the ISO & shutter speed are locked (although you can change the ISO manually) and the aperture you are meant to control yourself to create the desired depth of field. It's the flash/light burst that's going to actually expose your photo, correctly or otherwise.
In short, if you're wanting to use fill flash, you're probably better using a different mode, such as M or P.

Neither the K5 Manual nor the 360FGZ Manual explain this and the EV bar is showing and flashing -5 (under-exposure) in the viewfinder and the INFO screen.
This degree of under-exposure was reflected in my pics when using the flash to fill-in shadow.
