Hi there,

I bought my wife one of these wonderful 35mm autofocus (auto everything) compacts a few years ago, and while in service it gave her 99% fantastic results. Not bad.

But the other day, I picked it up to take a snap in the garden and I noticed the lens was open. Occasionally it has been left switched ON, so I switched it off and on again (a kind of subconscious "reset" operation).

However, instead of opening again, the lens cover stayed closed and the camera did not work.

I told my wife and she said she'd noticed something about it on the way home after we'd been out, but couldn't remember exactly what the issue was.

Anyway, has anyone else had one of these cameras go wrong in this way? All we see now is the pair of hypen (-) segments for the film counter flash in the display when we switch it on.

I have put it into a camera shop for a repair estimate, and now we have fingers crossed.

This is my first post on this forum.
