Thank you lot for many nice pictures !
Please do not forget, that there are as many opinions in the world, as there are people. So I judge according to my impressions and taste, and as an amateur. Maybe I would notice different things another time and my dicision is not an amen in the church. So, its only IMO
Please, take my nagging as very friendly thoughts, how an image could be improved.
In general:
You have chosen delicate objects. But there is less of delicate light and PP. I would have been more glad, if you found more ways to make the object even more delicate. Using a lot of black bg and/or strong contrast, was bit surprising me.
I would be glad seeing some discussion, what kind of pic-s did you prefer yourself?? I am really curious!
Here we go
Snappychappy
A delicate flower, delicate soft colors. I love flowers and have got a similar fav beauty in my garden. Good to look at the pics while dark winter
Still it is too „directly“ taken for my taste. And the dark corners are too strong for me – it doesnt help making it more delicate. Although I guess you chose this way for balancing the right dark corner and edge.
GlynM - Spiraea japonica
Again an aquaintance from my garden Delicate blossoms and stamens it has, true.
The colors and contrast is really bold. I am not sure if it helps to bring out its delicate side. The strong pink is my first and main thought about the pic. The flower is tricky also when to choose dof and focus point. Yours is nice, but there is room for improvement. I have struggled lot with similar pics and I have not got an ideal photo either. Maybe I am demanding too much ?
Prieni Feather
Delicate subject, delicate ligt, very delicate PP- High Key. Nice overall....I still cant help nagging: It lacks a bit more detail, a bit too much washed out. It is too much equal everywhere. I hope you catch my idea. BTW, It could be improved with levels a bit link
DrOrloff - Mother and Baby
Good subjest, nice pose, I love the expression of mother At first I was drawn back by lot of black on the photo. Now I get more used to it and see the favours of it too. It brings out the baby giving the main point for eyes, and the diagonal line of light. Good.
ReklawyksEkul - Good Kitty
My imagination flies what to do with the pic. It is NOT finished for me. Sry, but it is too yellow for me. The focus is not on point.
What arises to my imagination? BW or at least desat, (or only eyes having some color)! Closer !!! Portrait of hairy, so sweet and „innocent“ kitty ! With perfectly in focus eyes, plus some good details on hairy coat and whiskers. And why not even to go for High Key PP ???
You have found a good subject. It is worth of playing with it. Do it a week or a year , you will learn a lot while it and you will get a fantastic pic !
Davidtrout - Liseanthus
Nice flower. It is lovely, but it lacks me sth. I am totally thoughtless, what.
More character ?But how?
Robbiec
Love the colors ! Only you have to bring these out !!!! It is totally dark and supressed at moment. Looking at levels tool, there is SO much room to move the right slider to left ! It will make the photo shine!
After fixing the levels, you will start seeing next things. Maybe its possible to change the composition a bit, to avoid the central look. But the dof works well. Softness of b/g is good. Leaves on left bottom add dimensions to the pic.

JudithAnn – Soft side of...
I am glad you entered! One more butterfly from you to the comp set by me
Beautiful colors (maybe even a bit too saturated), nice butterfly. I like the way you have softened the edges of the photo. My eye starts to check, if there could be a way to improve the composition. But I have no idea at the moment. Are the petals of the left flower bit blown? The wings are not ALL in focus. Maybe ok? This is just bit nagging
good
Darlene – clouds
Very positive surprise from you for me! You have taken some Prieni's feathers and put into your sky Good idea, Nice bright colors and contrast. Maybe a tiny crop from above? To make it more panorama stile? Works
iBerg – newborn calf
love it. I think desat works here very well. Focus is nice (Maybe the calf's eye could have been bit sharper?) The pose – they seem to have long practice in working for you as models lol
Very well chosen DOF.
Well done !
PS. I had a chance to see the birth of calf this spring too – first time in my life
Dougf8 - spidersnail
I wonder how the snail moved on the spider web? Interesting thing to notice !!!
The composition is bit chaotic for me. The colors are good but unluckily they are on background and make it dominate too much. Desaturating leaves you without the deep ripe colors, but it will bring out the main subject of your photo. But focus is spot on
prsjnb_ reaching out
Ornament. Sharp. So sharp that some of the leaf edges seem harsh.
Nice. Sry, I do not know what to nag about
Montyaus
Sry, out of focus spoils it for me. It is also so central and „stright to face“.
As estonians say: „Participating is half of the victory !“ Go for the other half now!
TOZZA27 - dress fall out
Feather is a really delicate thing, of course. This one is crying of lonelyness and being deserted.
The heading gives us the idea, WHY is it so deserted and hurt. But wasnt there a way to show it on a pic? Somehow to include sth that reminds us the party, dress. Just to give us the hint of story. Of course it is a lot of work
flossie - sea of corn
Lovely. I almost see the corn moving in the wind and hear the rustle when the dog passes.
A vivid pic. Like the curve of the road. I like the composition! The light has been harsh. Loosing detail on the dog.
But overall well done.
Aliengrove - delicate work
Fine pic with fine color and sharpness. B/g is somewhat distracting. Otherways it would add in a way, but thinking of the theme, it takes away some attention from the net.
Mikew
I like: the lines, the shape, the ornamentic look, the way it crawles to the pic.
Some good CC was given to you on flickr site The spiderweb is and is not there. The yellow is loosing some detail.
Thoughton
uhhh Some more feather
„Detail and color“ is what I say looking at it.
Sry, no more thoughts left. Everything squeezed out of me
1.iBerg Newborn calf
2.Darlene – clouds
3.....?
Recommended:
Prieni for most delicate PP , although bit overdone
Dr Orloff for interesting diagonal of light on pic
Flossie for good feeling and movie-like look Might give the 3rd place
JudithAnn for bright sunny day
Mikew for lines and shape
Robbiec for being so close to a very nice pic
Thanks to everybody

wow, thankyou, I feel honoured to do so well so soon!
I loved iBerg's picture of the calf, have seen that moment myself a few times it is special. Oh, and wet.
Great pictures everyone though! Looking forward to the next challenge!

Prsjnb: many positives? Maybe I just always start my comment with positive and then try to bring out negative in a short and hopefully polite way I think it is good to know at least one positive thing about a pic, even if it is an overall disaster Then you know the direction, where to move The same about negative. At least one, even if the pic is beauty
Tim, it is not boring. It was just less "in theme" than I hoped
Flossie: feeling and composition is really nice, just go for technical knowledge and experience. Good luck!
Tozza27, hmm. I feel responsible bit ! Must encourage the entries
Darlene - in such cases PM will help, you know

Aiki - thank you! Very pleased, and there are a number of other images in this comp that are just as good or better IMO.
Congrats to the other mentions and well done to everyone that was able to enter.
Aiki, the judging was positive and constructive, keeping the standard high also. Now all I have to do is keep it there...
So stay tuned for a new fortnightly comp topic.
All entrants will be welcomed there, of course, and rest assured images will be judged on the merits of the image! More on that in the new comp thread too.
See you there.
