English Summer my arse, if it was the kid would be BLUE not green

Seriously though.....

Thats a nice shot but as youv'e posted it here you obviously want a bit of feedback.

Its a bit half and half, the horizon is too central and the kid is too low (and central) in the frame, and from a personal point of view I dont like that red... Lifering?
Too much sky (could you drop those clouds lower I wonder)

Not a Prizewinner but still a very nice pic, I'd have been happy with it.

PS; love the idea of the upright letterbox format.
PPS; love your Avatar Belinda....its almost as cute as mine

Whats everyone else think?

I like it too, I had to scroll down on my laptop screen so the kid at the bottom was a nice surprise.

I'd also suggest losing a fair bit of sky.

What red lifering?

I had to really search for that.

Thank you for your comments.

I too had to search for the red object which I think is a small child's inflatable dinghy.

I was looking to achieve a strong contrast between the dull grey scene and the bright child.

There was not much scope left for cropping, since the child is almost at the bottom of the original picture and some railings guarding the edge of a concrete ramp, where I am standing, needed to be cropped out

Nice shot, great "storyteller" - I'd be tempted to crop some of the top section of sky

I have to disagree with cropping the sky
That picture tells a complete story from top to bottom
Lovely English summer cloud dumping rain on
a bunch of resolute Brits determined to enjoy
a day at the seaside. The colourful kid at the bottom
obviously doesn't give a damm whether it's rain or
seawater wetting the beach. He's going to have fun.

I like it!!!
