Fortunately, when a calendar ends...we get out the new one and wish everyone Happy New Year. So Happy new Fifth Mayan Age while we're at it!
Of course, if I'm wrong then my trusty Pentax cameras will be here to record the moment.

And if it doesn't end today there is always Friday 13th April 2029, when Asteroid 99942 Apophis has a close shave with the Earth, and if it misses us then it can try again in 2036.
Or when the Pope's successor dies.
Or 2060, which is when Newton reckoned it would all end.

No - you are all wrong - my local prophetess - Mother Shipton (Ursula Sontheil) predicted 1881 - so I will stick with that one - the world ended in 1881
No matter how many lenses I have owned - I have always needed just one more

You could be right there. No - you are all wrong - my local prophetess - Mother Shipton (Ursula Sontheil) predicted 1881 - so I will stick with that one - the world ended in 1881
Edit: having checked a few things the first petrol powered Internal combustion engine was made in 1884, by Edward Butler. So that was the beginning of the end of the world. We're still experiencing it I fear.
So Mother Shipton wasn't too far out.

It's early yet, it's probably 11:11 West Coast time (it would be wouldn't it:wink.
My cousin in Oz rang this morning circa 9:30 (20:00 Oz time) and nothing had happened there.
Anyway, why 11:11 or is that a mystic number like 12.12.12.12 (recently gone)
I bet there are a few wondering how they're going to pay the drinks, hotel, survival kit bills by tomorrow
regards
Bernard

The irresponsible BBC.
At 11.11this morning an interview was interrupted with the sound of one hell of a crash, followed by the switching off of their carrier wave for approx 15 to 20 seconds. It made me take notice, and that was it, but I am sure that there were a great number of vulnerable people who were put into complete panic.
What a stupid, ill conceived prank, but I suppose its to be expected.
Take care.

In my local Asda last night I over-heard two people (queueing with loaded trolleys) talking very seriously about stocking up on food just in case something did happen, and how unfair it was to make the 'announcement' just before Christmas.

See this link of daft things people are doing

Eg: SURVIVAL TIP: For £920, Josef Stalin's underground bunker is offering salvation from the world's end, with a 50% refund if nothing happens. The bunker, 210 ft below ground, was designed to withstand a nuclear attack. Unluckily for you, all 1,000 tickets have been snapped up.
Merry apocalypse, and a happy doomsday. I’m Armageddon outta here.
