The Gitzo tripod cost about £200 I think 10 years ago. I remember at the time going for a 4 leg section design (shorter when folded up) and a relatively light one to make it easy to carry around. A 3 leg section would possibly have been a better choice. I have not used it a great deal and not with such a heavy camera/lens setup that I now have. Perhaps the resonance created by the shutter movement causes the problems with my tripod and head that it wouldn't do with another.

I decided to write here because I'm considiring to buy a Pentax K-1 but I don't feel confident about using long focal lenghts without EFC on 36MPx. My longest lens is 400mm and I also have some TCs.
My question is can you upload samples on 600mm taken with your new tripod? If posible speed around 1/100 with electronic shutter, mirror lock, live view (it should keep the mirror up) with SR on/off and normal operation (mirror and shutter action) with SR on/off. If possible you could take the live view and norm. op. also handheld just to show the SRII in action.
Before anyone else has answered me, I'd like to say that I know there isn't any perfect camera and all sort of electronic shutter solutions bring other problems like rolling shutter, flash sync problems, etc. but I'd like to know what are the actual effects on k-1.
I suppose that the mirror slam is present, as it is on most dSLRs but the shutter should be ok. Anyway on full frame the shutter is big so it is interesting what is happening.
