Photoshop Elements will do most of the things most people would want to do and a fraction of the price of Photoshop.

If you are shooting RAW, you might want to get (indeed, you are well advised to get) the free version of Silkypix.
It will process JPEGs too.

Agree with Ken, Photoshop Elements is a very useful program at a reasonable price.

Alongside Elements, I'd also consider Corel Paint Shop Pro X2. This can be had for even less than Elements, although it's probably closer to the full Photoshop in its features. And - apart from a complication re-sizing images - I've been very happy with it.
The days of free Silkypix are indeed over - went to download it onto my new computer whilst I was on holiday recently, only to find it had disappeared.

I have the Samsung badged version of Silkypix 3 and it is wonderful. Before that though I had used RawTherapee, which is freeware - although it would be churlish not to make a donation ($10?) as it is a very good programme with a nice new interface, and better than ACR.

It came with my GX20 (£299 from Jacobs!) It's called Samsung Raw converter v2, but look at the help etc. and it's obvious that it is the same as Silkypix 3. A bargain if you ask me...

Pentax's RAW conversion software has been based on Silkypix for a while, but it is a very much cut down version with a different interface. I certainly wouldn't equate it to Silkypix 3. You HAVE seen the real thing, have you? If it is the same, it is indeed a bargain.

Prepare to be wowed. When I got my K10D I found the Pentax "Silkypix" unusable. So I wasn't expecting anything when I got the GX20 (and nearly didn't load the software!) I've downloaded a trial version of Silkypix and the Samsung version is identical, same interface, functionality, even the help, which has all the quaint Japanese-English. So does this Samsung badged Silypix come with all the GX20s purchased? Even from other stores?

It was all bundled together, so I assume its what you get when you get the GX20. I also assumed that K20D owners would get this - what was with your's Amin?

I have seen the light ( no photo pun there... ) and I am now shooting both RAW and JPEG but I have a lot of JPEG only shots which I would like to enhance - Vista only gets me so far...
I want to remove / reduce noise in some pics and also sharpen / change tone etc. I am a novice re photo editing - are there any suites which can do JPEG in addition to RAW?
