True. I don't often use older zooms on digital as they aren't really up to it. It would be nice to have something reasonably sharp for my film bodies though, like the Super A or the LX. A Vivitar Series 1 28-105mm f/2.8 - 3.8 went for £27 yesterday.
A lens that used to receive rave reviews. I bought mine from new
yonks ago. I've also got the Kiron version.
When you consider what 28-70mm f/2.8's go for £27 is ridiculous.
The lens won't be far off f/2.8 at 70mm and still has another
35mm left to go.

Pentax-M 35-70mm f2.8-3.5 maybe? I haven't really done any scientific testing of mine but it definitely seems sharp, and at either end it's pretty fast. Only snag is that it's a bit bulky and heavy.

I'll keep my eye out Matt. I have more lenses than any one person really needs so I'm in no rush!
Back to ebay madness. There is a listing at the moment for a Pentax camera with two F series lenses but for some reason the seller has put (Minolta) every time Pentax is mentioned.

I've just seen the opposite ends of the spectrum:
Takumar Bayonet 135mm f2.5 for £149 BIN (ok, I'll accept they aren't that bad, but they're not better than an M 135mm f3.5 which can be had for £30-£50!)
Pentax LX for £200 - if I wasn't about to buy some new alloy wheels I'd bite their hand off. Recently serviced, good condition and has some guarantee according to the listing, I'd call it a fair price.

They are probably hoping people will think it is the 'K' 135mm f/2.5 which is a bit nicer than the f/3.5 versions (but not £149 worth of nice. I got mine for about £70 I think...).I've just seen the opposite ends of the spectrum:
