Ebay at it again!

I have just tried to list some inkjet refill packs on ebay, £0.99 start price, no problem there.

£3.00 P&P, exceeds the £0.00 carriage I'm allowed to charge!

Come on! It cost that in materials and postage, what the hell is going on?

I might just as well throw these in the bin!

It's to stop E-bayers over charging.

I had the same thing with the camera accessories section. It's taking the #~%$ big time. They insist you have to use paypal & cannot charge postage, by the time you pay ebay & paypal fees & then post your item you'll end up at a loss. I was thinking of putting a clause in my description that "free delivery" only applied to within 200 yards of my home.

You have to add your £3 p&p to the start price, and pay the 15p listing fee (instead of getting a free listing for a 99p start price).

This situation wouldn't have arrisen if so many sellers hadn't abused the system by chronically overcharging for p&p.

So everybody is going to charge £0.99+£3.00+£0.15=£4.14 minimum?

The whole point of £0.99 start prices was to raise interest and boost sales. not allowing you to charge a reasonable P&P price is going to do the opposite.

I would bid at that if it was a good price for the particular product.

However, I agree it's a shame to have compulsary free postage (with the current system), but that's what it's come to - for some categories, not all yet. We can blame previous bad sellers rather than eBay.

The alternative to loading the p&p onto the start price is to start at 99p and hope it will be bid up enough to cover the p&p. This is highly likely on popular sorts of items, but not on obscure items that only one person may be interested in.

What bothers me even more than the eBay rules & commision is the Royal Mail's new size-based pricing structure. A 20 gram item measuring more than 25mm thick costs at least £1.08 to post to a UK address. That's more than it costs to airmail to Australia.

I had an email from Ebay a few weeks ago asking me to sign a petition for free trade as a lot of the big manufacturers are trying to stop their brands being sold on there due to the amount of forgery.

How I laughed as I binned that email.

Why the hell should I help them after some of the daft conditions they have brought in over the last 12 months ... the worst imo being not being able to give a buyer negative feedback (I currently have someone in Italy trying to blackmail me into giving them a partial refund, they want to keep the item, it is exactly as described, they just think they paid too much).

I'm keen to help eBay to help me to continue selling second-hand goods, so I signed the petition.

Disallowing sellers from leaving negative feedback for buyers has ended tit-for-tat feedback from disreputable sellers. This was far more common than problematic buyers. I'm pleased as I'm a buyer as well as a seller.

Yes indeed, now the buyer can just hold the seller to ransom, leave a negative out of spite with no repercussion or waste their time by bidding on an item and then not paying.

Brilliant idea, I hope you continue to be pleased when something similar happens to you and your 100% feedback is wrecked out of spite.

Happened to me. A buyer tried to get a discount AFTER he received the goods and left libellous comments. I am not allowed to do a thing about it. (Also in Italy - wonder if it's the same person?)

Cant you get any negative removed if it is done just to get reduction in price...keep the emails and send them to ebay.

I have had as scammer trying it on to get a refund, without sending the item back, luckily before the feedback thing came in, they lasted a couple of more months trying it on before Ebay banned them.

I've never had a buyer like that out of all the hundreds I've dealt with, so I think they are rare, whereas many times under the old system, as a buyer, I was too afraid to leave justified negative feedback.

eBay should delete any unjustified negative feedback if you send them a copy of the blackmail email.

No, it was never said in so many words. eBay state they will not remove negative comments, even if they are untrue and offensive. In fact the only time they seem to remove them is if they criticise eBay!
