Hi Aiki,
We found out this easter that onion skins in the water made a nice yellow colour for the eggs. I think, however, that the Easter Egg tradition is a dying thing in Norway (sadly enough).
Surely, your eggs have been given some treatment in addition to boiling with onion skins.

I put some tiny leaves on the eggs (these leave greenish yellow patterns of leaves), covered those with onion skins and then wrapped into a piece of cloth. Just to keep the skins at the same place and tightly on the egg-shell while boiling. So it will give the surprising patterns.
I added also some blossoms, that I know, will give a bit of purple.
Easter here is mostly for kids
Sry, its not photography talk at all.

I post a pic of Easter eggs, coloured in a traditional way for Estonians.
Once I was to the USA, my hosts were looking me like this , when I showed my way.
I wonder, have any of you tried onion skins and plants for this purpose ?
(colored with plants, except the one with green + orange)
Pic is not a piece of art. Just made for showing the eggs.
