DxO Software

Have been receiving email containg "offers" for some of this software. Does anyone use it, is it much different to say basic photoshop or lightroom.

I have Dxo optics pro 7 On this machine but never really use it. I use Lightroom and Cs5. If your wanting to buy some software then have a look at Nik Software's range of plugins for PS and LR. I have them all and find them enjoyable and usefull.

Stan - I had downloaded the trial version of their software that makes your photos look as though they were shot on traditional film. Although it seems to work, it isn't quite my "cup of tea". That's not to say that the product is poor though. I think it's a matter of personal taste. I mainly use PSE, but I have Topaz, Tiffen, On-One, and Anthropics software on standby. At the end of the day, it's not really about the software, it's what you've used it for. I think if we were all totally honest here, we have all taken shots that on reflection might look better with a crop here, a tweak there, etc. If you feel that a particular brand of software gives you the results you want, who are we to gasp in awe at the results that a software suite costing £500 gave you, or mock you at the results freeware offers. If you create an image that you are proud to show off to others, then what does it matter how you achieved it?

Thanks for the input. I don't think I'll be spending a lot on software. I'm stuggling with what I have at the moment, cs5 with topaz adjust plug-in and lightroom 3.6, ( have found picasa the best for leveling horizons ) and often find myself tweaking a photo into the recycle bin.

Been there... Seen it, done it, and as we speak - the t-shirts are in production!!

Nik Plugins are the Dog's swolloks. Great username there bettyswolloks!!

Color EFex pro 4 is a huge improvement too. especially being able to stack filters.

O god yeah its a big improvement over 3. I love some of the recipe effects. Silver effex pro 2 is the mutts!

Have you played with HDR pro yet?

Not yet, nope. Not a huge HDR fan to be honest. I love Silver EFex Pro though
