Like the sky and the colours in the mid ground, but for me the left foreground does not add anything, it detracts. Hope you don`t mind the crop;



Also like the frame effect, have not seen this before.

I like your original shot very much.

There is a lot of interest, from the patterns in the sand to the texture in the clouds. Well done.

I agree with Peter, and I prefer the uncropped version too.

It is not usual, in the English language, to address people as 'dear' unless you know them quite well, and not even then, unless you are either a lot older then they are, or possibly in a partner relationship with them.

Otherwise, it is likely to be viewed as patronising.

And for what it's worth, language aside, I think it's rude on a 'comment and critique' thread to showcase one's own photographs in response to the original poster.

Your uncropped version is beautiful lidy. I like the foreground and I think it balances the image well.

edit: actually it looks good which various crops. removing the dark triangle helps but makes a less pleasant frame, cropping until the horizon is bottom third also looks very striking

For what it's worth I like sananjana's last one, but not the others.

I am not sure any of the pictures posted by sananjana are his/hers.

This poster seems to comment "well done dear" and include a variety of pictures in their replies to other posters pictures. The one Darkmunk likes is from a New Zealand Tourist website.

Thanks Peter and yes, I'd done a bit of searching too and most of Sananjana's contributions have the word 'dear' in and not much else. And Chris, you're right, the word 'dear' in particular annoyed me.

Darkmunk, can't blame you for liking S.'s last picture - wish I could go there to take one myself.

Thanks everybody for your comments. It's been suggested before that I should get rid of the little triangular part in the foreground. I didn't seem to be able to crop it in a way that I liked enough, so I left it as it was. I may have another go at it at some stage though and use your suggestions. Thanks again.

@Davex: I actually meant to use a different frame; realized after posting here that I'd clicked the 'wrong' one. It's one of the frames that comes with a very useful (free) piece of software called Photoscape.

I wouldn't read too much into it. I'm not entirely convinced English is his(?) first language.

I'm pretty sure it isn't (it isn't mine either as you know). No, it annoyed me to start with, that and the pictures, but it makes me laugh now (thanks for the link - hilarious! ).

The more I look at this, the more I like the original crop. There's just enough detail in the foreground sand to add that extra level of interest and make the scene complete. By the way, Lidy, English may not be your first language but at least you know you need a comma before the vocative case "dear" -- a technicality that eludes most British folk these days. Nice shot.
