Dust on sensor?

Here is the image from the camera's dust alert. It's the larger blob that's the problem. Should I be able to see it with the naked eye as nothing is visible looking directly at the sensor with a magnifying glass.

i doubt you will be able to see it, and i have dust up in the eye piece from using the blower on my k200d.

One thing that deterred me from buying a DSLR a few years ago was this dust problem But, if a little butterfly can cure it.....

Sometimes you can, but usually you can't see offending specks of dust on the sensor with the naked eye. If using a blower, just give it a strong blast to the centre or the rough area where you think it is.

Yes dust is sometimes blown onto and behind the focusing screen, but that doesn't affect your pictures and can be removed. I find that rarely happens though if putting the nozzle reasonably close to the sensor (but still far enough away to prevent accident).

I recommend the Giottos Rocket Blower.

Problem solved! Is it Artic or Arctic? I always though an artic was a big lorry that bends in the middle

If you haven't resolved the problem yet try this. I recently had a similar problem after changing lenses in the Cambodian country side, covering my sensor in a thousand specks. Well, I mounted my camera on the tripod with the sensor facing the ground, opened the camera with sensor cleaning, stuck my rocket blower in carefully and squezzed like made. If you don't have the camera upside down the dust will just blow around and change position. For me with half and hour of persistance all the dust blew away. If this doesn't work, take your camera into a reliable camera store and get them to give the sensor a chemical clean.

Hope you've resolved the problem, if not 90 percent of the time this technique is a winner.
