Still working with the Sigma 10/20 trying to get ideas of how to get the best from it.

Ian, the Siggie 10-20mm is a superb wide angle lens. But when using it for landscape or panoramic views like this remember wide angle shots work best with a strong focal point in the forground. A wide angle lens gives you good depth of focus so you can add impact to your image by having something eyecatching close by while retaining detail in the distance. Your Chester-le-Street picture would be much stronger with forground interest, say a heavy roller or groundsman with his mower.

Thanks David it realy is a nice lens but does take some getting used to Im still not there with it just yet. I can see what you meen re a point of interest I will probably visist the ground again some time and hopefuly may be somthing might just pop out. To be honest it would have been nice to get another place to shoot the scene but obviously your restricted to the perimeter.
