Alan, you got the shot, that is all that matters! The B & W was obviously a good choice as it looks like it was fairly dim and dull at the time. I love the deep silky blacks on the foreground rocks - its all beautifully sharp so you must have clicked the button before everything came tumbling down.
Out of interest, how do you cary out your Black & White 'conversions'?

I can sympathise with the fall I had a reasonably similar fall north of Llangrannog a few years ago - I though that I had broken my ankle - thankfully I had not but as said - you got the shot - congrats

Looks like you are going to make good use of that lens, if your back gets better. I do hope so.

Thanks for comment Nigel. By the way, this was after the fall.
Anyway, as to the conversion. I initially balanced exposure in colour using Lightroom. Then in Lightroom I converted to B&W.
Put it into Silver Efex Pro. Applied the high structure preset. I then brought it back into Lightroom.
Put a grad across the headland to which I increased shadow exposure
Put another grad across the the water coming across the rocks, to which I decreased clarity, to increase the effect of the blurred sea.
Anyway, as to the conversion. I initially balanced exposure in colour using Lightroom. Then in Lightroom I converted to B&W.

Could I ask why you converted it into b&w in Lightroom before editing it in Silver Efwx Pro?

Nicely done Alan - I went down on to those rocks back in September - only took about 5 steps - nearly went a over t and gave up!

Sorry it was such a painful experience though!
I was just out of surgery for my knee early September when we were staying at Craster (other side of castle). I THEREFORE missed out trying such shots. Probably just as well given how dangerous it seems to be

Sorry to hear about the fall - so easy to happen - and I really hope the bumps and bruises are recovering.

Will have to go back again, in a few weeks (or I might just put it off for a few months ... lol), and try and get a shot with some decent clouds.
Next time I think I'll wear an old pair of trainers that i don't mind getting soaked. I wore my wellies this time. Got to get your feet wet for seascapes

These rocks have a notorious reputation for being slippy. That reputation is merited. I got off lightly. I'm sitting hear with pains in a shoulder, back, knees and an ankle. But it could have been a lot worse. Luckily my rucksack on my back broke my fall, and thankfully none of my gear was damaged. I did lose my head torch. Just glad it wasn't my head.
