Dunstanburgh B&W

Hi all... spent some time between Xmas and New Year on the Northumbrian coast... my old stomping ground growing up, so always a pleasure... picked up the tail end of the storms... not nearly as brutal as what hit Yorkshire/Lancashire, but pretty blowy all the same... impossible to keep water/spray off the lens, so still some tidying up needed... some black and whites for now:

1,3 and 4 my favourites in an excellent set of a lovely but intensely photographed spot. The sense of movement in 4 is cleverly captured with good tones.

Wow What a great set, hard to pick a favourite, but number 1 works in so many ways!

Very nice and atmospheric.

Number one and the beach huts get my vote

Such a beautiful set of images, it is so hard for me to pick a favourite, so I'm not going to try. However, I think it's worth noting what makes the seascapes in these so good for me and that is the way Bill has used the patterns in the water to aid composition. To make this work, the shutter speed has to be judged spot-on to retain the right amount of detail in the water, but with just enough blurring to form patterns. You've nailed it Bill.

David S, thanks for observation re water trails... have been having a good look at these off and on for a while... just finishing off a project on them funnily enough which I'll post when I've had a chance to put it together...

I like them. Four in particular for the composition movement and a naturally more moody looking sky.
