DSLR Camera Strap for Wildlife

I'm not finding the supplied camera strap with my new K-5 very comfortable particularly when out doing wildlife shots, and I need to get to the camera quickly, but need it outside of the camera bag. I would like a strap that allows me to walk/clamber/climb about freely without the camera swinging around (which happens when its round my neck with the current strap). I was climbing across some boulders today trying to approach a Buzzard in a nearby tree to photograph, and I missed the opportunity because I had to put the camera away to stop it swinging into some rocks before I got to the vantage point. The buzzard flew off before I had retrieved my camera from the bag.

I looked online, but I've no idea what actually is worthwhile buying, so any recommendations appreciated

Hi - I use a strap like this one linkas its long enough to wear across my body ie put head and one arm through. This holds it close to my chest but I can still raise it to take a shot - and with the quick release clips [which have never come undone by accident] I can free the camera up easily if I need more movement. Also very comfortable for long periods, although being neoprene can be a bit warm in hotter climes. Cheers Gary

Another idea is the Sunsniper and Black Rapid type of strap. Not sure how well they stay in place when clambering mind.

I used my Optech Harness in Tanzania when climbing a kopje and it the camera stayed put very nicely. It's also very useful when dog walking as my hands are free to deal with the dog and the camera doesn't fall forward or get in the way.

I use a strap more or less identical to the one posted by GaryJohn, but made by Crumpler. It is fantastically comfortable compared to the regular Pentax strap

Let's face it, almost any strap is more comfortable than the standard Pentax strap .

Yes. I swapped over the strap from my z-70. Wider and more comfortable. Looks nicer too. Why can't they make them like that anymore!

For wildlife it's essential to go for camouflage and pick one
that blends in well with your clothing and surroundings so that
you don't scare the little critters.

It took me ages to find one that blended in with my shirt
