The WR lenses are excellent and the weather resistance a very useful bonus. For the price they are when included in a kit they are well worth having.
Best regards, John

Definitely buy them in the kit, you can always sell them and reduce the body price even further.

They may be cheap but they aren't nasty by any means, plus the WR seals make them very handy indeed.

The 18-55 definitely does not make the most of the k7 sensor (not tried the 50-200). Very useful for wet weather conditions though, and it's probably good enough most of the time to be honest. My first copy was very soft on one side, and needed exchanging.

I don't think Pentax do anything that's cheap, ultra-sharp, and has the WR seals? The 18-55mm is preferable to wrecking a more expensive lens by taking it out in the rain.
You definitely won't feel that you've wasted any money on those lenses, anyway. Both are very capable and will enable you to work out what focal length you use most, thereby enabling you to buy the right length lens if you decide to upgrade.

Thanks for your advice guys. I held a K7 today. I also held a Nikons and Canons retailing at from £500 to £1000 and none of them could hold a candle to the K7.

Nice one
I didn't sell my 18-55 kit lens that came with my K20D body even though I soon upgraded from it.
There's a big difference in IQ between the kit lens and a Pentax DA* lens, but the kit lens isn't rubbish by any means. It's worth more to me to keep as a spare than the £30 I'd get by selling it.

I am about to buy a K7. The kit lenses seem a bit on the cheap side. 18-55mm & 50-200mm WR Lenses.
Would I be better buying a body plus single lens of better quality?
Thanks
Harry
