I'm off to Donnington on 15th for the British Touring Cars.

Anyone been before ? Any tips for good spots for viewing and taking pictures ?

A quick search and the Craner Curves and Old Hairpin seem popular but Donnington has had a lot of work recently so I don't know if this is still the case.

Camments appreciated.

I have been to Donnington both on and off the track but it has been a while

From my memory the spectator situation at Donnington was not exactly a close to track experience but things may have changed and I did not visit all spectator areas

Sorry I can't really be of any help

If the info on the spetcator areas is available on line I would check these carefully

The museum was pretty good - I assume it is still there
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

I'm going on the 14th... It's my 8 year olds birthday treat!

Part two of the treat is that I've got him a Pentax *istDS with 2 lenses so he can take his own pictures!

I'm planning on taking a pretty full (but small) bag with me... The longest lens I own is the DA50-200mmWR so that' definitely going (I usually shoot wide to normal range)

FA28 and Tamron-17-50-2.8 are both going (normally carry only on of these) and the FA50-1.4 always goes...

Considering taking either the Pentax-Program-A OR the Pentax-MG along too; paired with M50-1.4 and Vivitar 19mm 3.8

Joes far more into cars than I am so my main concern is that he has a great day and gets some good shots of his own (I've promised to get his 10 best printed for his room, although he still thinks he's using an old olympus p&s)
........................................................................
Digital:
Pentax K5- Vivitar 19mm 3.8; FA35mm f2; D-Xenon 100mm macro f2.8; DA50-200mm WR...
Flash:
Yongnuo YN-560; Vivitar 285HV; Cactus V4 triggers...
Film:
Pentax-MX & M50mm f1.4; Spottie & 55mm f1.8; MG & M40mm 2.8...

Thanks for your comments.

From what I've gleened elsewhere I'll probably try the craner curves area. Probably with the K5 and Sigma 150-500 and have the Pentax 50-135 on the K7 and leave it at that.

David, if you get a chance to post any feedback on the Saturday night that would be appreciated, I'll do a further internet seach then as well. As I'll be with 3 other people the photography will take second place most of the time but it would be nice to get a couple fo decent shots.

Regards

George
