Does the af260 work on the Q?

Do you think this flash could work on the Q? If yes how?

There's the usual Pentax-dedicated hotshoe on the Q, so any flashgun suitable for the DSLRs will work fine.

yes, I did not mention that I already bought and tried it. it actually shoots, but the pentax af260 does not have any manual control and it is TTL...thus I think I cannot control the flash power. Am I correct?

It would probably need to be P-TTL to work fully, so there may well be limitations. The other limitation I can think of is that you won't be able to set an aperture smaller than f/8. So you might need to use some layers of cloth or paper over the flashgun to reduce the intensity of the light, as well as reduciung the camera ISO.

Making a diffuser to fit the flashgun would no doubt do the trick, perhaps combined with different thicknesses of white cloth or paper.

I found we had to turn down studio lights quite a lot to use the Q.

yes indeed, I just wanted to know if somehow the 260 was able to change the power automatically but I think it cannot do it.

according what I read from the manual, the flash theoretically should impose the aperture to the lens.

strange the flash works well on the k5, the aperture is actually automatically set, but it does not work on the Q. I think the problem is due to the fact the the Q needs the flash to be disabled to work with an external flash.
