I've just come 1st and 3rd in my local photography club Annual Print Competition. Funny thing was after the competiton the judge asked did I use Canon or Nikon for my wildlife photos, he was very suprised when I said Pentax.
I won with my Redpoll shot

He made himself look an idiot by even asking such a question.

Well everyone knows you can't photograph wildlife with a Pentax don't they?

Congratulations on your win with a beautiful photo.

The problem with Pentax at the moment remains the lack of a lens beyond 300mm

Congratulations on your win

Nice shot.... was it the DA* 300mm or did you manage to make a Nikon or Canon lens fit the Pentax ?

It was the Da* 300mm + plenty of patience.

I would but there isn't enough room on the forum I picked up four tropies and a bunch of certificates for last years work, and this year I started off well with three 1st places. three 2nd places and one 3rd place in monthly comps.
So PENTAX must be good if I can do it

Congrats on the win Steve, though looking at your portfolio its not surprising, excelent stuff.

That's a nice shot, Steve. Congrats on the win.
Recently I was at the camera counter in a local large department store, and asked if they sold Pentax. The answer was a firm "No", and as I glanced down to the glass cabinets, I saw only Canon & Nikon. I'm glad I have a brand that's a bit unique in it's rarity.

That Delia Smith is a good cook, she must have a marvellous oven.

Well done on the win, a very good shot.

People generally think that Pentax is inferior to Canon and Nikon. I use both Nikon D300 and Pentax K20D. The only real advantage of the D300 is the focus speed. Metering of Nikon may be somewhat more reliable, but not so important. However, despite many direct buttons for control, the control of D300 seem less customizable for user preference than the K20D. I prefer the color, white balance of Pentax. And many other things that make the D300 unable to be a winner of the much less expensive K20D.

So it was a camera competition and not a photography one then! Good picture BTW.

It reminds me of that line in The Blues Brothers...

"What kind of music do you normally play here?"

"Oh we got both kinds, Country and Western!"
