It might be that you're in the 'middle ground' here - needing to go to one end where the tern is frozen still in the dive at point of entry, or else look at having the tern as a total blur... It's probably going to be all about the timing...

Bucks.
Was set up for the reed warblers again this afternoon and during a lull in activity saw some terns diving in almost the same spot so tried to focus on the spot and hope they hit.
Not the best as they are heavily cropped and out of focus, but a good enough start to get me interested!
