Dirty Sensor - Glasgow help?

Ok, it is the first time that I have a problem with dust on the sensor. I have not kit to clean it, but no money to buy one or give it to professional cleaning as well. My idea was that maybe there is a member of this forum who has one of these little blowers or however you call it and knows how to use it and wouldn't mind to meet me in glasgow for 10min to "blow my sensor"... however dirty it sounds

Unless you guys know how to un-dust the sensor without this type of equipment. Thanks

Sorry I'm not near Glasgow.

A blower can be bought cheaply from any camera shop or online. The "Rocket Blower" is very good, but any large blower should do.

Blowing doesn't always work, but it is cheap! To prevent too much dust blowing about elsewhere in the camera, place the blower tip pretty close to the sensor. Pentax tell you not to do this, but it's actually ok if you take care and ensure the battery is well charged.

Iv'e tried the blower on 2 cameras ,my ISTDS and my K20D...on both occasions I ended up blowing dust up into the focus screen!....It went in the bin and I invested in an arctic butterfly!......a wonderful tool,and so simple to use !.....Hitch a lift down here and I'll do it for you in 2mins!.......Ken

How bad is it? Can't you get by for now with just cloning out the spots?
Which camera do you have? Does it have a sensor cleaner which may shake off the dust?

Isn't Gartmore in Glasgow? you could maybe PM him?

I paid €50 last time, but it was filthy and it was a 24-hr turnaround.

I know. It was the first time I'd had it done professionally and was disappointed to see them using a blower, just like I would have done......

so I'll be cleaning myself next time.

Save your money and buy an Arctic Butterfly. Meanwhile learn how to clone .

The arctic butterfly is £44.99 from SRS!......I've had mine for 5 years now and it's still going strong......and still doing an excellent job...well worth the investment.......Ken

I have no problem with cloning, it is just a strange feeling to know that these three spots are there And don't fancy cloning every single photo.
