dilemma

I'd get a K3, the Tamron and the converter, and sell the K5.... Absolutely no doubt about it! That's plenty of future proofing with that sensor, plus the converter will have uses on other lenses in the future. More compact as well than carrying the two telezooms.

Congratulations on the new job! What a relief for you.
No advice on what to buy I'm afraid. I'd probably hang onto the money and see what the autumn brings, but I'm boring like that.

Great news and nice dilemma, for which I don't have an answer, I'm afraid.

I don't agree. The amount of money we are talking about isn't going to make a jot of difference to the bills coming up if the new job fails. You've got some cash; enjoy it!
No comment on the choices, except to say I love the K5 and personally, I would only buy the K3 as an addition to the K5.
Lenses are where the gains usually lie.

I look at these moments in terms of want vs. need.
If you want the k3, now's a great time to buy, especially with the SRS deal.
But what do you need? Will the K3 make up for some big failing with the K5, or would new glass improve things for you?
There's another 'but', however, which is would the money you'd be spending on camera kit be better spent elsewhere, or put aside towards whatever Pentax are bringing out this year? The K3, no matter how good it is today, is yesterdays camera and will be superceded by something better tomorrow,
All that existential stuff aside, I see, I buy! But then, I recognise I'm in the fortunate position to do so.

the good news is i hahe a new job to walk straight into
the big dilemma is
do i by a k3 and keep my k5
do i by a tamron 70/200 and a sigma 170/500 and not by a k3 or get shut of the k5 by a k3 and a tamron lens and a 1.4 converter
regards stu
