I used to do this with film as I had no option! I could only afford the kit lens. But, like Gartmore, I frequently use just the 40mm.

I used to with my *istD and FA*24 as I found the F/L ideal for general walkabout usage. However when I bought my DA16-45 the 24 fell into disuse and I eventually sold it last year.

I still quite often go out with only one lens on my K20D and that's a zoom, currently the DA 17-70 which I really like.

I've had many primes, FA*24, FA 28, FA35, FA*300 f4.5, DA 21, DA 40, DA 70, Zenitar 16mm, Peleng 8mm and Hartblei T&S 90mm, but quite frankly I just can't be bothered with them except for macro and dedicated long telephoto work. The only prime I now have left is my trusty and much loved FA 50 f2.8 macro.

Some days I just take one camera/lens out. It was the Jupiter 85mm for a little while, and I did the same when I got my MX back.

Went for a walk yesterday with a rucksack full of kit and my K10D with the DA* 50-135mm in my hand. I took every shot with what I had in my hand. Hmmmm... I think there might be a lesson there!

All the time ! but I don't own a prime so it's my 18-55.

I do a LOT of walking and the camera is heavy enough on it's own, let alone with heavy lenses so I just take the one, normally set on 35mm.
