How long do you think its going to be before Sigma release Pentax mount HSM lenses, or has anyone read or heard anything regarding longer Pentax lenses?

Having just got into shooting birds I intended to buy a Sigma 135-400 with my K10D but then after reading posts and praise of the 50-500 "bigma" considered it would be a much better option, then after seeing the price narrowed it down to the 175-500 (I would only use the long end anyway),

Question is, do I wait for the possible HSMs and either buy that or a discounted non HSM lens?

Hi,

I can't answer your question I'm afraid but you will be able to answer mine and I'm going to show my ignorance. What does HSM stand for? (I'd put a smiley here if I knew how to do that).

It was for "shooting" birds that I had thought of the mirror lens, hence my raising the thread on mirrors.

Howard

PS I go to Pennington Flash to see the birds there's a very good feeding station there. A bit far from Leeds perhaps.

I know Pennington Flash very well - only a few miles from home.

I presume HSM means "Hyper Sonic Motor" or something like that and refers to a focusing motor in the lens.

We'll be waiting for a while for the pentax versions to appear yet, and that would make any independent ones even further away. I wouldn't worry about it really...
Best regards, John
