Dead meter in 67 - worth replacing?

Hi all

I've got an old 67 that was apparently owned by a Western Daily Press photographer and demonstrably used to hammer nails in and perhaps for some panel beating. It is just about still in one piece but little more than that.

The meter has never worked, but I've dusted all my 67 gear out for a weekend trip and found my old handheld light meter - a passive type - has died. Hence, I'm going to have to use rules of thumb or trust my phone meter (I've found a metering app) to do the job.

Seeing as I only ever shoot b&w I can get away with some approximation, is there a feeling that my phone meter will be up to task or should I consider investing in a new metering head or a handheld light meter? Not convinced I'd ever use a hand-held for anything other than the 67, although a flash meter might be fun to play with.

Phone a Samsung galaxy SII, if that makes any odds. No idea of accuracy of light sensor, but I will say that the battery life is farcical.

I don't know your exact app and phone, but I have read a number of reviews of phone light meters and they seem to work well. I'd try that for now.

I'm hoping to get a few long exposures of waterfalls, which I worry might vex a mobile phone meter. We'll see!

I've not found a phone app light meter that works well yet, so I bought an old selenium meter which works brilliantly..

If the camera works well apart from that, I'd get an external meter or learn to use sunny 16. Failing that, I'd take it off your hands, I have some loose nails that need hammered in a bit better.
