Here's a couple more from the day:
This is the top (chimney section if you like) of the stairwell from image three. I was at the top of the stairwell looking up into this section. Up above is an open area where you can walk over this translucent ceiling. At 10mm it just looks surreal.

And a shot of the glistening mersey:

And yes (before anyone says it) I need to clean my sensor!

Wow you had an inspirational day! these shots are great. I like all of them although the first (which there are now three or four versions of here) is a gem! I like your last version of it although I might be inclined to try and add a bit more at the top above the window to give a bit more (dark) space above it.
Great stuff

I've lived in Liverpool for probably 10 years + and these photos are simply amazing. I've probably been in exactly the same places and NEVER seen these places like your photos! (Although I've probably tried the Tate image, but got a photo nowhere near as good as you).
I've never even bothered looking up at the stairs in Liverpool One! The fountains photo is brilliant. And the reflection shot as well. Amazing!

Me too! Although perhaps rotate it slightly before stretching to get the line between floor and wall perfectly straight?#1 with the stretched sides is the one for me. Superb.

Great set in any case!

Thanks very much for all the lovely comments guys, it means a lot!
I guess I did have an inspirational day!
I think I'm starting to find my feet now with looking at the world around me and figuring our what might work, or look interesting/unusual. As always though being in the right place and the right time is the main factor for success, and this tells me I should really get out more - but I must admit, from what was a simple day out with the family (a very enjoyable one too) I'm thrilled that I managed to grab some gems.
I have to say though (and I know I keep banging on about this lens) that my Sigma 30mm f1.4 has been crucial in most of my recent work. I cannot sing it's praises high enough.
I wanted to clear up my Flickr Photostream and delete the previous versions of my first image (but I accidentally deleted the current version my mistake too :blush so I'm going to repost the latest version of "pausing for thought" here, but I will continue to use your feedback on this shot, as it's certainly worth working on and your comments have already helped improve it:

The edited version of No 1 is superb. I really like the staircase image too, as well as the top of stairwell shot. The edit of No 1 is the stand out though. Lovely.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
