Data corruption

Hi all,

This happened 3 times during last 2 years, and the problem is sometimes shooting pics with my ist-DS camera, it says "memory full" if I try to see the pics it says "there is no pics" and when I connect the camera with the computer I cant see the normal folder/files, only strange characters etc..

It seems some data corruption, but dont know if it can be recovered or why this happens.

Any advice and solution is welcome

Welcome to the forum.

1: Format the card in the camera and try again.
2: Use a different card and try again.
3: If the problem accurs with more than one reasonable quality card (not a counerfeit clone), return the camera to the supplier or Pentax for warranty claim or repair.

Most good quality cards carry a lifetime warranty. If yours is one of these, return it to where you bought it for a replacement.

If you don't have another card, buy 2 or 3 good quality cards. Avoid 'cheap' counterfeit clones. They simply are not worth the money.

This happened this the same card, I think the other one was ok at least the time I used it so I will come back to it and I will look for the forum the quality ones u are telling me

Anyway, I think the data is lost, is that right?

The data may be recoverable but you'll need some specialist data recovery software. Even then, the images may not be useable.

If the card has genuinely failed and is unreadable, the data is lost. If the images have been accidentally erased or the card has been formatted, the data may be recoverable, but not if you continue to use it.

Have a look at R-Studio for some excellent data recovery software.
