Well, I finally got some spring shots. Albeit, only from our back yard, haven't had a proper chance to get out recently.
Here are the two I'm most pleased with.
C&C welcome, as always.

I prefer the second one too as the trumpet is less OOF. In the first I find it too distracting. I'd be tempted to clone out some leaves, especially the large one to the right.

Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

The second shot is a beaut, with the light and the focus.

Viewing on a Blackberry so can't see properly but I'm liking the second one :wink;

How on earth can you assess a photograph on a Blackberry, the resolution must be appalling and the size minuscule?

Second shot works best for me too, other than Kris's criticism about the leaves my only other gripe is the flower seems a little dissembodied (no visible stem), if we can see the leaves why cant we see that too?

It would be interesting to know how you got the background so black

The black background was by accident
I was shooting into the sun, with my reflector just behind me, and I was lying on my back on the floor. The flower must have been sillouted, but with enough light from the reflector to light up the petals.The missing stem is partially due to cloning out the out of focus flower behind this one.
I'd post the original, but unfortunately I've just cleared my memory card

Hmm, sorry to be all negative, but while I like the petals in the 2nd one, they appear sharp and are nicely backlit, I unfortunately simply cannot appreciate the trumpet in it's current state at all. I just can't see how you can have it OOF without ruining the image. I don't like the way it is shaded either. Sorry

Also the green leaf below the 2nd flower, appears to have a row of bites taken out of it, I assume they are cloning arifacts - they are quite distracting.
