Evening all,
Sunday was my first real play with my newly acquired DA 17-70. The following are my pick of the snap shots I took. C&C welcome, even though it was a bit of a point and shoot session.

I'm not overly critical of lens quality, but it's pretty clear this lens is a bit of a beast compared to the Samsung 18-55 kit lens. The colours and contrast are in a completely different league. I have not done much PP at all to these images besides sharpening (a few are cropped, a few have a tiny bit of extra contrast), whereas with the kit lens I felt like a lot off PP was required to get anything like a decent final image.

Lovely set. You could enter any of several in the fortnightly comp and really meet the requirements of spirit of place .

I have the 17-70 and am very very happy with it too.

Wonderful set, very clear and crisp. Appears to have good colour rendering. Not sure which I like best, but probably leaning toward #4. Would love to see more shots with this lens.

Cheers,

Stephen
I gladly welcome C & C's. Being foggy minded they really help me learn.

Really nice set demonstrating this lovely lens. Better than I managed in Oxford last weekend by a mile. I especially like No. 4, great shot. No. 3 has potential but seems a little over-exposed. Can you bring it down a bit in PP or is it too bright?

Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Thank you guys.
I think I need to get my monitor calibrated. Kris, no.3 can easily be brought down. I usually use Silkipix (Samsung version) Auto exposure as a starting point and none of the shots are far off that suggestion. If anything I usually bring the exposure down a touch.

There's no doubt that this lens is great. It's a year old (1 owner), in mint condition with all packaging and I paid £300.

I missed these when you posted them Matt (was flying that day!), what a great set! I really like 4 and 5 a lot, fantastic images. I've tried a few from that bridge in 5 but have yet to get any decent results! Lens looks great too, maybe we should organise a temporary swap sometime so we can try out each other's walkabout? (after you've had a few months to get your new lens out of your system of course )
