DA 20-40mm Ltd - anyone had a go yet?

Someone doesn't need to handle a lens or use one to make a decision whether they feel it is too expensive for what it is. The substance of criticism speaks for itself and it seems a bit odd to cast it off as irrelevant when made by "ordinary man", but the same suddenly warrants attention when made by "superior man" and smacks of Appeal to Authority
Surely rather than rolling your eyes at the "ordinary men" who have made criticisms of this lens wile at the same time gushing "Yes Gary" for the same criticisms is it not better to just enjoy your 20-40 and appreciate that others might have different requirements and different views on what is good value to them.

For those who have never heard of Gary Wolstenhome you'll find he does most of the lens reviews for ePHOTOzine.
It often surprises me that sometimes people don't look very far and miss the information that is right under their noses! ePHOTOzine and Photodo are excellent resources and are sister sites of Pentax User.

20-40 Has appeal but it's not really a practical focal length range is it? Or is it? When I look at my Landscapes over 80% could have been taken with that lens...

I found a similar trend a little while ago - the DA*16-50 was my general purpose "walkabout" lens for a long time, but when I looked at the images I'd taken the vast majority were either at 16mm or between 20mm-35mm. So now I use the FA20-35 and a DA15 (and a 100 Macro) as my lightweight (in the physical sense) kit. I would expect the DA20mm-40mm to be an even better option, especially with WR, but the price is still too high for me to take a punt
