I want one, despite having my Sigma 8-16mm which I love, I miss having this lens in my bag, I need to get it again I think, it just works... There's one in my local camera shop and I keep popping in to see if it's still there Bonkers!
Cheers Jules...

I think so yes!
Erm lacks a teeny bit of micro contrast compared to the 15mm F4 Ltd but thats it, Any faults are the easily corrected ones in lightroom (Caveat, if you have it!) IE: a bit of chromatics and a slightly wavy distortion pattern. Where it scores is sharpness across the frame it's really very very good, and I should know I've had a few, including the Nikon 14-24 F2.8 and I'd put it right up there without hesitation.
(List: 16-35 Sony/Zeiss, a beauty, 16-35 Canon, 17-40 Canon, 17-35 Nikon, 16-35 Nikon, pentax 12-24mm, Sigma 8-16x3, 2x pentax and 1x Nikon, Sigma 12-24 HSMII) Not exhaustive list but off the top of my head, the outstanding ones are the Sigma 8-16, the Nikon 14-24 and the Sony Zeiss 16-35 but right in the mix I'd put the Pentax 12-24, it just does everything sooo well...
Cheers Jules...

The 12-24mm is really that good, and we've known it since it was first released.

What is interesting is that new tests show there is actually plenty of resolution there with newer cameras and the lenses still excel.

All the recent batch of Pentax lens tests have been quite glowing.
Best regards, John

I think I have had around 5 copies of the 12-24mm in Pentax and Samsung guise and in the end I always sold them due to lack of use. I now have the Sigma 12-24mm and although I don't think it's quite as good as the Pentax lens it cost me half the price (and it's FF compatible for when Pentax release the new body later this year)

I'm surprised no one's noticed how soft the sample photos are on
the RHS, especially the barge shot. The left side is pretty good.......
then again most people only buy a lens to fondle it

I had one of these along with the 10-20mm Sigma. There wasn't
much between the two except the Sigma was wider so I sold the
12-24mm.

Yes, I had not looked at these close up. Doesn't look like a good copy at all, surprised that did not get mentioned, the edge resolution figures must only be from the LHS. I always regret dropping my 12-24 in the river (just as the price went up). The Sigma 10-20 is a fine lens, but the distortion on the 12-24 was always much more flattering for people caught on the edge of the frame. I am interested to see if there is a 12-28 coming Pentax way, the Tokina version seems to be good (apart from the trademark Tokina flare). Lets hope it is HD coated and not too pricey!
