DA 17-70 - any tips?

Would you credit it mines broken, can't zoom below 35mm. I'll be sure to mention the focusing problem and hope it's better after the repair.

Just to say that I put my lens through its paces last night in dim lighting at its longer end and had no real trouble. There were a couple of instances where it failed to lock, where contrast was negligible, but I think any of my lenses would have had the same problem (perhaps not if I upgraded to the K5II). Given Barrie's experience above, I'm aware my clean bill of health for the lens may be premature!

Gently resting a finger on the focus ring while autofocusing pretty much resolved the hunting

(Added to that that I generally use centre focus point, with the AF button - and not the half press shutter)

It's back and, while I have not been out with it, first impressions are that the focusing has improved. Close focus loads better same with low light and low contrast subjects. Makes me think it was not set up correctly to start with
