DA* 50-135: A quick quesiton about the focus ring

Hi everyone. I just picked one of these up 2nd hand and have a question about how the focus ring works (there was no manual in the box unfortunately)...

So there is the normal "range", I don't know, something to infinity. Once I reach either end of that scale, I am then able to turn the focus ring further. Is this something to do with Quickshift mechanism? How does one use Quickshift properly?

Lovely lens BTW. Will be taking this on the Trans-sib with me for a couple of months adventure around Asia.

Just checked mine and it does the same might be to do with
It being internal focussing

This is normal for a DA*50-135, the focus ring has no 'stop'.

Yes, the ring can keep turning.

QuickShift is the ability to fine tune focus manually at any time, without having to engage manual focus with a switch or lever. If we find focus with a half depress of the shutter button and hold that position the manual focus ring can be used to alter the focus point. This can be especially useful in macro photography.

Ok thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't faulty or I was damaging the mechanism.
