Some images taken around the lake at Cwm Ystradllyn, which lies within the Snowdonia National Park.

The last 4 are from the nearby ruins of the old slate mill at Ynys y Pandy.

K5 and Sigma 10-20.

Number 1 is the standout for me bychan.
I like the way you can see through the clear water which also reflects the clouds.

Did you use a polarising filter? The clouds look very contrasty against the vivid blue skies.

In fact, does the 10-20 have a screw thread or is it too much of a fish eye?

#1 for me. Lovely clouds and reflection. Like it as a portrait too as opposed to the similar #3

Thanks Karl.
Yes, a circular polarising filter was used.
The 10-20 uses a standard 77mm filter thread (what a lens, sorry to be biased).

#8 is by far the best shot IMO and would benefit from some contrasty black and white.

#3 is my 2nd favourite but it suffers from

a] not being level

and

b] not being symmetrically cropped above and below the big fluffy could on the left side

A couple look like they might benefit from an adjustment of colours - for eg 7 a bit greenish, & 5 looks yellow? The first has the rock and clear water, as Karl commented. I agree with Smeggy on the last one.

A favourite spot of mine. Such a wealth of photoopportunities within a couple of miles.

Great sharpness and colour in the first couple. Odd colour in one and it's a shame the cloud highlights are blown in a couple. Sensors just can't handle this range of light and dark (not sure about the K5). I always underexpose to retain highlight detail then use PS to boost the dark foreground, at the risk, admittedly, of introducing shadow noise.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Nice tranquil feel to no.1. Think I've been here on a holiday, seem to remember my Dad was fascinated with the name of the place (he kept saying 'come-ee straddlin' in a daft Welsh accent lol)...

bychan, sorry ever so slightly off topic, but that lens is on my shortlist. What do you think to it?

a] It's a shame that the built-in level indicator on the K5 seems slightly out

5 & 7 were processed using a couple of the presets in Lightroom (trying something different, a marmite kind of thing I suppose).

Yes, a very nice spot Andrew.
I guess you're also referring to the colours in 5 and 7, see above.

First 2 opening shots for me, love them clouds and that blue sky - so vivid

The third as Smeggy said is a little sloping, not by a great deal but the reflection makes it look a lot more worse that what it is
Thanks Gareth

'come-ee straddlin'
Then again I've had 41 years' practice in perfecting the pronunciation and the accent

Karl, I think the 10-20 is a great lens, as I'm sure others will say the same about their Pentax 12-24 and Tamron 10-24.

I like the way the rock and the clouds mirror each other in the composition of No. 2. There is an odd optical effect though as at first it doesn't look level, but checking the horizon it seems it actually is. It would look lovely printed large.
