Try the Missing Manual by Lisa Snider.
I have the PSE6 version which is excellent. I'm sure the CS4 version is just as good.
If you can stand his style Scott Kelby has books on CS4 too, but you have to like his way of writing to get the best from them.
I like him, but lots of others can't stand him.
