We were lucky to be in the Hayden valley late in the day to watch the bison come down from one hillside;cross the road;then gather in groups before swimming across the Yellowstone river to spend the night on the other bank.

Whoa I didn't know they could swim!! Or were they walking on the river bed?

Closer to home - can cows also swim? I'm visualising a whole new competitive sport here...

I didn't know they could swim either before we saw them do it. The centre part of the river was out of their depth and they were carried with the current, but strong swimmers they appear to be.
