I like the colours and the focus effect very much but it's a little too abstract for my taste. But I'm sure other will love it, for that very reason!
Best wishes,
Andrew

Colours are great
the stamen is well done .Many folk will drool over it - but I'm not one of them
Sorry - it's just not speaking to me

I find the elliptical stamen a visual dead-end, right in the middle of the shot, dominating without being particularly interesting. It's also darker than the background, which I could have appreciated as an abstract on its own, without the stamen.
Scooching round so that the stamen is seen almost from the front, rather than the side, and at an angle which leads the eye into the shot rather from side to side, would have been more successful IMHO, if a little bit predictable.

Works for me.
OOF colour behind the stamen very nice background.
Lovely rich orange, reds and green.
I want a tiny bit more light on the stamen I can see you're lighting from behind and as you're on such a small scale lighting must be tricky.
That and a tad more green too please.

Well I have done many such shots while dabbling in macro and have yet to keep one (mainly because I couldn't think of a reason to keep them) Mike-P wrote:

I have every single shot I've ever taken from every digital camera I've used. Some are bad to very bad, others are users.

Gary,
Stamen entering frame at the same point but showing more of the filament and rotated to form an upward curve. Softer (more diffuse lighting) and a colours a tad less saturated.
IMHO

I like the colours, I like the abstraction, but I find the composition a bit horizontal. Definitely worth more experimentation but perhaps at funkier angles?

I like it. The colours are right, and as an abstract it would make a nice poster. I think I would have made a 16:9 horisontal crop, though.
I see no point in filling the harddisk with a lot of images I know will never come to any use.

I started like that, but soon found out that it wouldn't work in the long run. Now I delete a lot of images, first just after uploading from the camera to the computer (the obvious mis-takes :wink then after some consideration others that are not up to (my) standard.I have every single shot I've ever taken from every digital camera I've used.

I agree. I think it would work better if it were on the diagonal.

If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.
