Most 50mm lenses are good. The Cosinas are certainly worth trying, but don't pay more than a tenner or so.

I can't see the point when for not a lot more you'll get a Pentax M lens. Cosina were I thought very much budget end of the market.
In fact why not get a Pentax 35 A lens which go for quite modest money I think - I got one for about £30. Same with 28mm A lens.

Thanks for that guys very helpful. Think I may go the PKA route as Mike suggests, but also get a Cosina with fungus.

Cosina did a 24mm F2 and (I seem to recall) a 28 F2 which were well thought of. I had the 24 F2 years ago and it was great with film. A very solid lens - completely unlike the rather plasticky AF lenses (though their 100mm Macro and 19-35 lenses were pretty good performers for the money too - even if the construction did not give you much confidence)
