Yes, very. I think part of the problem is that a lot of people still think anything they see on the internet is "free" and "fair game", but just about everything belongs to someone, or was someone's brainchild.

An interesting and informative post indeed, but here is a slightly different perspective: I discovered that someone had posted on youtube a fifty minute documentary I made about 20 years ago - I was delighted! Saves me the bother of working out how to do it myself but there is another underlying issue of third party rights: the film is full of commercial music properly licensed and paid for but only for use by the primary copyright holder, in this case the BBC. So I'll leave it to the giants of the music industry like Sony/BMG to issue the takedown notice. But rip-off merchants using music on wedding web sites really should take note.
