Copy stand P

Does anyone know when the "Pentax Copy Stand-P" was made? There was a Copy stand IIP and IIIP made later. I'm guessing it was during the Spotmatic era but more precise info would be nice.

Not the Spotmatic era as far as I can tell. There were Copy Stands MkI and MkII but no others are listed in my Asahi Pentax manual.

If I find anything I'll come back to this later.

Why have you dug one up?

I have a later booklet dated 1987, on the border of the A series taking over from the M series, and this lists a Copy Stand III.

Copy stands labelled P mean "portable" and this is the same copy stand that is current at the time, but the base is built into a carrying case.

I can find references to it in the 1970s, but not by 1984.

I have just acquired one of these which will be very useful because, as John says, it packs down into a nice carry case. In fact, the baseboard is the carry case. The only downside is that the fitting for the camera has two metal protrusions which enable one to get a Spotmatic body level on the holder but prevent one attaching a modern digital body easily. I'm having to use one of those plastic spacers that came with the M series cameras.

It was probably prior to 1969. The later focusing rail was slotted so that it will fit any thickness of camera. I've got the later rail but not the copystand. I've got a Kaiser copystand. I use a tripod quick release on the rail so the body thickness doesn't matter. That's the best solution or cut the lugs off
