A really good late afternoon / early evening visit last month to the Garden and Woods at Coombe near Croydon yielded a great variety of subjects and lighting. Here is a selection from the outing, all taken with the Pentax K7, mostly on a tripod. Lenses as described for each photo ....

A very fine and varied set Nigel.
Some crackers in there.
Please please please tell me you used off camera flash for your tube shots and BUG Macro

Good shooting as ever

As an owner and lover of the K7. It's a very underrated camera in the Pentax world. No3 is a great effort Nigel...

Thanks Derek! I'm SO sorry, but the one with the bug on it is sunlight exclusively! The flash lit images are all the fern ones and the tiny white flowers.

Thanks also Stuart, I'm still working on improving the K7's reputation, and my own!

Lovely set, as usual, Nigel. I particularly like the shots taken with the Samyang 14mm - I must take my wide angle lens out more!
Regards,
Mike

Yes you must! I love the 14mm for this sort of thing .... very satisfying to stop down to F13 and see the depth and clarity of textures continue into the far distance, like you could walk into the scene yourself!

Thanks Mike, its nice you saw the photos.

Like the first two especially Nigel. Something about green as a predominant colour always appeals to me

Thanks Peter .... I'm always trying to improve my forest shots which are a real challenge DR-wise. Here I used a bit of flash right at the bottom to light up the foreground ferns. I also use two exposures blended, as the sky areas become very blown out otherwise.

I think he is right you know Nigel. Losing that brown patch bottom right will be better.

Another good set, Nigel, from which I would choose 2, 3 and 7. There could be a few slight adjustments to colour balance in some, e.g. to make 5 a bit cooler and 8 a bit warmer, but that is just a matter of personal choice.

Cheers.

Thanks Gareth, Peter and Philip .... Hmmm, I'm not usually too precious with my compositions .... I'll certainly give No 1 a chop, but it will lose the flash lit bits in the extreme foreground! (That was kind of the whole point of the shot ....) Also I thought the glimpse down to the browny-red soil was nice. Oh well, it gives me an excuse to go back and find another angle!.
