Connecting to a laptop for macro

I recently spoke to a chap in a camera shop who told me he connected his Canon to his laptop when shooting macro. He was then able to immediately see the results in fine detail as he shot them.
Is it possible to use my K-7 in the same manner?

Yes I believe so, the program needed is on the CD you got with the camera, it's called remote assistance so out of my head.

Nope, sorry.

Pentax did not bother with tethering for the K-7 unfortunately.

They are rumoured to be including it in a firmware update for the K-5 after it is released.

While the K-7 does not support tethering so you cannot control the camera from the computer, you can connect the K-7 to a laptop, TV or monitor with a HDMI cable and that allows you to see what the camera sees in Live View or on playback. In other words, instead of viewing on the 3 inch screen on the back of the camera you can use a laptop screen, monitor or HD TV.

I wonder if anyone will come up with a hack to use the K5's tethering software on the K7

Isn't the same.
With the K10D you can control the settings off your camera from your PC, I don't think you can do that with an Eye-Fi card.

I've got a photo booth set up that uses the k10, Pentax remote software, and Apple's Automater and Applescript software....
people pop in the little booth, push a big button, get a two second timer and it pops the photo and brings it into iPhoto and adds it to a slideshow..... and then plays the slide show... we then burn the slideshow to disc at the end of the event (printing is optional, but we charge more for that).
Goes over big at parties!

It's the only way it can be done with a K-7 Hundreds of K-7 owners are doing it and are quite happy. Everyone should be happy when they are doing it K-7 owners do it Wi-Fi

You can control the settings for the camera from........????? !!the camera!!

The other alternative is sell the K-7 and get Don's (PAF) Photo Kiosk
Half Man... Half Pentax ... Half Cucumber

Pentax K-1 + K-5 and some other stuff
