Composition?

It was Mrs Oggy's birthday in the week and I got her some flowers which struck me as rather colourful. I tried to get the colours, but I'm not sure about the picture.

Maybe it's the left side in focus and the right side not. Any thoughts?

I'm sorry Oggy, I think the flash has killed it

For composition I would have placed the flower more to the left since the leaves don't add a thing and it would place the focus point (1/3th) on the flower.

I'm with Stefan on this the flash has killed it deep shadows with in the rose it's self and a lot of dead space on the crop (left hand side and the top of the rose) just MHO

Thanks for the replies.

I have just tried the camera on the tripod without the flash and it has completely failed to pick out the detail of the rose.

Like John said in the past post rainy days (I think)
the best time is a dull day

Have you tried to bounce the flash or defuse it in any way and what flash are you using by the look of the image it looks like you used the built in one
