The place to talk about the voting competition.

Any suggestions and ideas about how to make this better or do it differently can also be discuss here and is appreciated.

I would loved to have some feedback on the rules, I've just make them up what I though it was best but I'm not the ruler here so lest discuss those please.

What do you think that the winner/judge can also set the date limit of the photo, I can see some creative use off that for example naming seasons like winter or summer as a restriction.

What voting competition?

If you are referring to the bizarre threads that have enlivened this forum today, I have only one comment:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

George, the thread about adding new competitions was started last week. Nothing to do with todays fun and games.

Ah. I rule my comment out of order.

Apologies

Just a small technical spanner in the works - The Forum may have a limit on the number of options in a Poll, for when it comes to the vote.

Also.

Rules are best kept short and simple.

Like this.

Or they are too hard to read.
Still shooting in the dark (literally and metaphorically)...

That's it in a nutshell Gareth... one week for entries, then the poll is added and voting takes place in week 2.

Re time frame, as Stefan says:
Quote:
Date photo = no date limit (might be an idea if the judge can set those?)
I presume by judge he meant 'previous winner'

I think that allowing the person who sets the next subject to decide whether to set a time frame is a good idea.

I've had a test, and managed to get the number of poll options up to 30... at which point I got bored. I presume there is no limit but in an case, 30 is plenty.

Agree with your comment on keeping the rules short and sweet.

But I thought for Stefan it was quite succinct!

Indeed Flossie I might want to explain too much.

@Gareth, yes for this run it's something like that and the last weekend we all vote, I think 2 days during the weekend give most he opportunity to vote, so it's not like a week entries and second week voting it's rather 12 days entries and 2 days voting.

If someone has another suggestion or find it to busy with the other competition we could run the "real comp" for a month and have the last week of judging for example.
But for now 2 weeks is good enough to see how it works and if things should be adapted or not I think to make it better.

@Will, thank you for your comments and your test

@ISO, like Gwyn says I've put words into actions so this not really part of the discussions but indeed something that flow out of it.
If you know a better way of doing things then please share them.

@Gwyn, I'm expecting an entry from you
Btw am I also allowed to enter? we all vote together and I didn't really chose the theme just picked the first weekly one

Well I think maybe you ought to enter Stefan, if only to give the entry thread a bump.

I was going to shoot some eggs and bought half a dozen especially for the comp, but I get back tonight and whats for tea? That's right - Spanish omelette!

(For which I was actually very grateful as it was delicious!)

Stefan of course you are allowed to enter.

Inspiration (and inclination :wink seems to have taken a holiday at the moment, but I'll see if I can come up with something. Are old photos allowed?

Hopefully you can come up with something, I'm curious what you can come up with.
Yes old photos are allowed, I said there wasn't a date limitation for this one.
