Coloured Sweets & Glass

As the weather was pretty dismal at the weekend, I started something I wish I hadn't, the sweets in the brandy glass took a day and a half and I'm still not happy with it.

The multitude of highlight / reflections were the problem with the brandy glass, even shot in almost total darkness with a black light tent

55mm - F4.5 - 122 Seconds - 400 ISO

The secret, Chris, as I see it, is that you have to fill the brandy glass with the liquid from which it gets its name. Once you've done that, (once or twice), you'd be surprised how good your images look. (And, btw, they are good.)

I'll drink to that! They are very good indeed, even before making proper use of the glass.

To my eyes, the only negative in the whole set is the sweets around the bottom of the brandy glass which detract from the glass itself. Delete them (or better still, eat them) and it becomes a better picture to me.

These seem to open up a whole new realm of photography. A triptych of triangles with different coloured sweets in each? Sweets in different glasses (sherry, wine, champagne, whisky...)? Different geometric shapes made of sweets? Same shapes, different sweets? Lots of possibilities...

Forgot to say last night - the last image is a sweet picture. (I know, I know, I'm not going to heaven.)

Yes! That's what a brandy glass full of sweets should look like.
