David, I really like the surreality of that shot!

I agree - it's surreal, and very striking. I like it very much. Well spotted!

Great colour chart! It goes well with the other bokeh-style shots you've taken recently, in your album.

You've a great eye for these kind of shots, David

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Great great shot!

If I may, what I think will improve it and would love to see is with the "No turn right" cloned out, the lights box straightened-out (the post looks vertical instead), the red light turned a tad down in saturation and the background turned towards violet (for increased contrast with the yellow light).

Nonetheless, an artistic eye. Well done!

I like it just the way it is. Sort of thing I would see when I dont have my camera. The crooked lights/light post etc are the picture. Making it straight and changing the colours would detract from the scene for me...

Retired at last - now all that time for photography - you would think: wink:

Lovely shot David. Could you tell us a bit about the context?

That's the way the traffic lights were so I left them on the lean. The no turn sign is part of the picture for me so it stays.
The context: Its in the city centre at Newcastle, what used to be called Swan House roundabout. The coloured walls in the background make a wonderful backdrop, I've done quite a few shots using them in different contexts. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

David, so was that a shaft of sunlight?

Lovely shot David. I think it's a pity you couldn't get all 3 traffic lights lit up. Now that would be surreal! Perhaps time to borrow a tripod for a long exposure?
