Bird Long shots

I went to the estuary near my hometown to shoot some easy birds

Focusing the Pentacon 300mm F4 + Quantaray 2x TC was hard, but I managed to get some shots.

I like them - nice and sharp.
I presume you had to manually focus?

Nice shots especially the 2nd. I like the
detail in the birds wings.

Yes, manual focus of course. Fortunately they fly kind of slow, otherwise I'd never be able to follow.

Very impressive for that lens and TC! When I first saw these I couldn't believe how sharp they were, especially with the TC. I'm guessing they must be significantly softer at larger sizes?
