Does everyones K10 make an obvious clunking sound and vibration when gently tipped from side to side? Wonder if it is the antishake mechanism. Camera seems to work fine but its very disconcerting. I have taken the lens off and the battery out without reducing the clunk.

You mean that gentle sound of something moving slightly? Never really noticed it before, but it's probably the sensor that determines which way up the camera is being held.

I wouldn't expect the CCD shift to be as large as the movement I have just been listening to.
Best regards, John

Haven't K100D owners also reported this quiet thunk from inside when they rotate the camera? It doesn't have an orientation sensor IIRC.

I should clarify. I am referring to the camera being tilted when it is switched off.
Spot the paranoid new owner dont you think?

Yep, so was I. With the camera switched off, rotating it reveals a slide>thunk sound. Don't know about the K100D, but it certainly happens on the K10D.

It seems to be normal, so if everything is working OK I wouldn't worry!

As John says, this is indeed normal - and "slide, thunk" is an excellent description.
